"Acoustic Punk"

“Acoustic Punk” are a Father & Son duo from The Scottish Highlands, consisting of singer-songwriter Davy Cowan on acoustic guitar/ harmonica & vocals with his son Sam on drums.

Here is a wee background story as to how the band came about:

In 2012, Davy and his life long friend & fellow Coinneach band member, Graeme Hosie, decided that they would get together to play some of the songs that inspired them when they were growing up. They formed Punk Ska party duo “Davy & The Hosebeast” … jamming out a host of songs from bands like; The Clash, SLF, The Stranglers, Sham69, The Specials, Bad Manners and The Sex Pistols to name a few.. and went on to rock many a festival audience up and down the country with their unique acoustic infused takes on these classic songs.

In September 2016 due to ill health, Hosie was unable to perform their annual bash at The Loopallu Festival in Ullapool but his understudy came in the form of Sam Cowan, Davy’s 12 year old son, who had learnt their entire set and loved the Punk/Ska songs as much as they did…It was at Hosie’s request that Sam stand in for him at Loopallu 2016 and he played a storm.… At the end of the set, Lucy Spraggan, who had watched the show, picked Sam up and hoisted him headlong into the crowd where he was crowd surfed from one end of the tent to the other!

Sadly Graeme “The Hosebeast” Hosie passed away in October 2016 ….

Davy and Sam have been performing together now for over a year under their new name of “Acoustic Punk”. To date they have supported The Skids and The Sex Pissed Dolls, and played The Bimble Inn stage at Beautiful Days Festival 2017, Belladrum 2017 and Loopallu 2017. Lately they have been writing and recording new original material and plan to release their debut EP this Summer..
