  1. London Bridges

This is a song about homelessness as seen through the eyes of a child.. This was inspired from a memory as a small boy after a trip to London with my parents, I remember going through London on a double decker bus & asking my Mum who the people were sleeping in shop doorways? & why some were raking through dust bins? It was a bit of a culture shock on that first trip to the City after coming from our small Highland Town.. Unfortunately it's now something that's all to common all over our Country, it's not just a problem in the Inner Cities any more..

Lyrics

Davy Cowan - London Bridges

Sitting on a London bus
To young to make a lot of fuss
Through these big clear windows watching
A world that’s passing by
First time South from our Highland town
There’s more to life than your own back yard
Small was I but still I see
I remember everything

London bridge is falling down
Boat trips down the old Thames river
Pass the Palace gates and through
A town at night where people shiver
Where you going to sleep tonight?
Where you going to sleep?
I won’t be afraid tonight I won’t be afraid

People living in the street
Inside dustbins food to eat
Who are those people we don’t meet?
Strangers with no name
Spare some change or spare some pity
A cardboard bed in cardboard City
A freezing doorway shops lie empty
The world keeps passing by

London bridge is falling down
Boat trips down the old Thames river
Pass the Palace gates and through
A town at night where people shiver
Where you going to sleep tonight?
Where you going to sleep?
I won’t be afraid tonight I won’t be afraid

Years pass as we grow old
People left out in the cold
Whatever happened to that dream we were sold?

Where you going to sleep tonight?
Where you going to sleep?
I won’t be afraid tonight I won’t be afraid
Where you going to sleep tonight?
Where you going to sleep?
I won’t be afraid tonight I won’t be afraid
Where you going to sleep tonight?
Where you going to sleep?
I won’t be afraid tonight I won’t be afraid
